500 business leaders from across Hertfordshire gathered at Watford's The Langley for a prestigious black tie Awards dinner on 29 September, supported by Platinum Partner, Watford Borough Council.
The SME Hertfordshire Business Awards 2022, organised by Watford Chamber of Commerce, featured Watford and Hertfordshire's most exceptional companies. More than 160 organisations and individuals were shortlisted across 22 Awards, with Awards ranging from most Enterprising Business, to Sustainability.
Watford businesses were shortlisted in almost every category.
Watford Borough Council is delighted to be a first-time Platinum Partner of the Awards and sponsor of the Watford Business of the Year and Business Innovation Awards.
Businesses are the lifeblood of Watford and this event provides an exciting opportunity for the council to shine a light and celebrate our town and county's bold, brilliant businesses. Which is why we're delighted to announce the winners of our sponsored Awards below.

Watford Business of the Year Award: winners
​
Carbon Rewind is committed to doing their part to deliver the vision of a more sustainable future. They provide comprehensive solutions to reduce energy consumption, fuel bills and address climate change at the same time, which includes installing insulation, heating systems and renewable energy.
​
The company has transitioned from a start-up, to a more corporate entity and are successfully driving forward their business. This includes hiring key staff and employing 10 young people in Watford through the Kick-start scheme. Carbon Rewind has expanded their product range, created a training centre for their team, and are truly committed to staff engagement, well-being, health and team building.

Silver winner: M K Ginder & Sons Funeral Directors
​
The family business was founded in 1983 offering an alternative funeral service. This provided choices and bespoke options to families whilst maintaining the traditional service of a local independent funeral director. Their first premises was located on St. Albans Road, Watford where they continue to care for their families today.
​
With a strong reputation, M K Ginder & Sons operated at the front line, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company provided outstanding service, organising up to five funerals a day, demonstrating huge resilience and providing much-needed support to families.

Business Innovation Award: winners

Gold winner: Urbanbox digital
​
Urbanbox digital offers digital marketing and interactive experiences with the sole purpose of growing charitable income for good causes in the UK. They help recruit and engage donors through designing unique experiences with audiences, as well as gathering insights and data to refine marketing.
​
Silver winner: GeoSmartPro
​
The company, which was established in 2018 has created a leading-edge smart pedestal fan, at an affordable price. Originally conceived for newborns who shouldn't be exposed to constant airflow, the products are benefitting the elderly, those going through menopause, people with mobility issues and providing smart air control for pets, when owners are away from home.
